This group meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month. In the warmer weather – hopefully from April to September – we go on field trips within a 40 mile radius of Beaconsfield. A typical outing would include meeting at a local pub or restaurant for lunch at noon, when we look at notes about the sites to be visited, prepared by one of the group. Then we go out in the field to see at least one place of Archaeological interest and one Geology site. None of us is a real expert in either subject, although we all have knowledge which can be pooled, and we feel free to join in any discussion which may arise. Inevitably we also see and comment on the wildlife in the areas visited. During the winter months we visit museums and prepare lectures, slide shows and video presentations.

Some of our best visits during the past few months have been to the vale of the White Horse and Thornborough in North Buckinghamshire where we admired the medieval bridge and found fossils in the quarry.

Please note that all joining the Field Trips do so at own risk
